Aperture Strategy worked with a top-flight football club in the sport and community development sector to design a future-proof organisational strategy. Using our Four Frames methodology, we helped the club align governance, culture, and community purpose into a single vision for sustainability and growth, combining modern professionalism with its deep local heritage.

Key Challenges

The club faced leadership transition, regulatory change, and declining community engagement. Governance structures had become unclear, and stakeholders were unsure how to balance financial sustainability with community expectations. The national association’s new framework demanded stronger governance and impact measurement, forcing the club to evolve its operating model.

Aperture applied its Four Frames methodology to redesign the club’s strategic architecture. Through targeted workshops and stakeholder engagement, we defined six Decisive Conditions covering governance, facilities, participation, and reputation. The resulting framework – “One Club: Continuity and Change” – set clear direction, metrics, and an adaptive quarterly review cycle. The club now operates as a unified, community-led organisation ready for long-term growth.
